BALLOON RIDES

Balloon rides will be sold during the 2009 University Motors Mountaineer Balloon Festival.  During the previous 24 years of this festival, over a thousand persons have experienced the thrill and enjoyment of balloon flight. Many look forward to this annual festival as an opportunity to view the Morgantown area from an open basket—where they float gracefully over the colorful fall foliage and the world below becomes a well-done model train layout.

The price of a balloon ride is $200 per passenger. Passengers will be required to sign this Passenger Release and Waiver prior to the flight. For those passengers under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign this form.   Please review the requirements and limitations on passengers as they are stated in this document.

We are often asked about age limitations for balloon passengers.  Individual pilots establish their own policies on this topic, but generally children who are too short to look over the basket are not flown—and for that reason, they would not be able to fully experience the flight. 

Persons interested in rides must purchase ride coupons from the white hexagon shaped pavilion next to the entrance to the launch area at least 30 minutes prior to the flight.  After that, they must receive crew training and have their ride coupon validated that this training has taken place or they will not be permitted in the balloon basket.
